Matt Kitzmiller stops by the 3-Gun Show studio for a little chat about 2020 goals, to set me straight on several things I've pondered aloud on the show and to push all the buttons on the soundboard.

Matt is an Open shooter from Arizona and has been raising the pressure in the division while analytically finding his way through the sport. Matt brought with him a list of topics that we've discussed on the show and he uses his own experiences in matches and practice to paint a picture of what he considers the best practices on everything from kneeling bipods, to bags, to weather and to match nutrition.

This week's podcast is a Match Recon on the one and only Hard as Hell Multigun.

Spoiler alert- the match rocked. This is one of the more fun matches of the year; incredibly physical, tons of shooting, all kinds of fun shenanigans and a happy, fun, laid back attitude by match staff.

We're bummed it isn't happening in 2019 but listen in to hear what an incredible match this was and for some big Black Friday announcements.

A choke tube is such a simple little device- merely a tube with a constriction. But knowing how to properly use the chokes in your range bag can save you a ton of time on a 3-Gun stage and not knowing could rack up a lot of penalties for targets left standing.

Adam Maxwell is back on the show and we present to you the complete guide to shotgun chokes starting from the origin of chokes, a technical explanation of what happens as your shot passes through a choke and several ways to pattern your chokes.

Then we get into testing your chokes to find what works for your gun and your chosen load to decide how precise or sloppy you can be with your aiming based on your pattern, several rules of thumb for selecting chokes and a description of how to tell them apart.

Plus... What to do about slugs...

This podcast ran into the wee hours of the morning so you'll be able to find out what shooters really think of topics.

James Gill, Jay Christiansen, Adam Maxwell and I were sitting around the VRBO after the first day of the UML Traditional Nationals and talking about the classic "who's a better shooter- this guy or this guy?" and we decided to hit the record button.

Lebron and Jordan, Superman and Batman, a Gorilla and a Grizzly. There are classic matchups that people talk about that we will never see happen, often times the best of an era gone by and the current era are stacked up in a fantasy match where enthusiasts debate their strengths and weaknesses.

That's exactly what we have here and we end up going down a journey of skills, new & old techniques, where new people are lacking, where seasoned shooters are lacking and how each of them climb their way to the top.

Plus! Some of the biggest laughs we've ever had on the podcast.

After the first day of shooting was done at the UML Traditional Nationals in Texas, our buddy Adam Maxwell and I took the time to record a podcast about a specific topic that we never got to.

I love these kinds of podcasts because this gives you a small slice of what competitors are talking about when the guns are put up and the sun goes down. We cover such topics as missed opportunities to shoot great matches, how to decide which of those option targets you should shoot with which gun and what we really thought of the stages at USSL's "Knock Down Nationals."

Plus! AMax's first experience with the soundboard...

Every now and then we do a podcast that makes me think "ohhh I wish we did that years ago!" And this is one of them.

I remember when I was green in the 3-Gun major match scene and trying to figure out who all these match staffers were, what their dynamic and hierarchy was and how I could help.

In this podcast we cover all the personnel positions necessary to pull off a major match and what they mean including; Match Director, Property Coordinator, Prize Table Coordinator, Build Crew, Range Master, Mr. Fix It, Stats Guy, Range Officer Team (CRO & Scorekeeper), Media (Photographer, Social Media guy, Hype man).

Not only do we give you definitions of each and how they can best contribute to the match but we also cover some creative ways to recruit these folks and how you can contribute to a match with your special set of skills.

Did we miss anyone? Leave a comment below and tell us!

Fresh off of an injury resulting in a seven week break from shooting, Jay Christiansen is on the podcast to tell us what happened. After we learn not to trust Jay's wife with medical aid we get into the good stuff.

We talk about the current state of 3-Gun, why we need a sanctioning body, how to approach your favorite podcast host and why you need to learn to choke properly.

Plus you can hear about a fun thing we have in mind for a Texas match in 2020 and our list of dream matches...

After a 3-Day Keith Garcia "Champions Are Made in Practice" class in Phoenix, Kim Pederson and I were pumped up and ready to to talk more about the shooting sports so we called up Matt Kitzmiller, crushed some Thai food and sat down with a half dozen topics to toss around.

We get into Keith's class, some things that Kim and I got out of it. The difference between shooting cultures in different parts of the country, mentorship, chasing gear and some truly inspiring final thoughts.

Generation 3-Gunis one of our favorite matches for a lot of reasons. The stages are always  challenging and fun, it has a relaxed and laid back atmosphere and most importantly- Gen3 is a non-profit and all of the proceeds from the match go to providing match scholarships for junior shooters.

If you’ve ever seen a junior shooter with Gen3 on their jersey, they have directly benefitted from this match.

Plus, juniors shoot the 8-stage match for free and there is a Junior-lead team shoot off which you’re about to listen to today.

Carbine matches based on the classic AK platform have increased in popularity over the last few years. Starting with the Red Oktober Kalashnikov Championship at the Southern Utah Practical Shooting range and spreading across the United States, there are now several matches to choose from to exercise your AK-47, AK-74 and their variants like the IWI Galil ACE.

In its fifth year the 2019 Magpul Texas 3-Gun Championship has hit its stride and signals the start of the multigun season in Texas. The crew went hard this year with seven natural terrain and three bay stages at the Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet, Texas. The stages made use of the ranch's most scenic areas and featured multiple jungle runs and shots out to 600 yards.

Listen in as I run through the usual stats and Adam Maxwell gives us the rundown of what he enjoyed about the match, the highs, the lows and of course funny things that happen along the way.

Adam Kraut is once again on The 3-Gun Show podcast from Triggrcon in Bellevue, Washington.

You'll recognize Adam from his show "The Legal Brief" on The Gun Collective's YouTube channel where Adam explains complex firearms laws in terms we can all understand.

In recent years Adam has ran for the NRA board of directors several times so I pick his brain as to what in the heck is going on within the NRA, the BOD shakeup, the allegations of irresponsible spending and much more.

Plus! We talk about the #1 career that young people want to pursue today and how Adam is already living that dream.

Tim Ramberg is on the podcast this week to talk to us about the shooting culture in the Pacific Northwest. We also talk about the match that he runs, how he got into 3-Gun via USPSA and why he made the switch.

We recorded this podcast after day one of Triggrcon (which was fantastic) and Adam Maxwell (AMax) joins in as co-host. We had a great conversation with Tim and learned a lot about the practical shooting scene in the PNW and about Tim himself.

Plus! We dream of the perfect match and discuss things that can die in the shooting sports...

The Tactical Games have seen incredible growth since their first event in 2018. Jared Halbert is a fitness enthusiast and 3-Gunner that has embraced the event and is seeing a lot of success.

Coming off of two Elite Division victories and a second place finish in his most recent competition, Jared stops by the studio to talk about the games. We get deep into the training, strategy and skills required to compete at various levels in the games.

Like many of us, Jared has faced adversity in his life and near the end of the podcast he shares his story of triumph after an accident that left him severely injured.

Pete Rensing took over the Match Director duties of the 2019 Magpul Wyoming Governor's Match presented by Vortex Optics and is on the show this week to give us a preview of what those of us shooting it can expect from the match. We had a surprise guest co-host for this one as Adam Maxwell stopped by to hang with us.

If you aren't shooting the match you should still check this one out because we get deep into Pete's Design philosophy when it comes to matches and talk about the structure of USSL specifically the United Multigun League. We discuss the level 1-4 requirements for matches, the majors and regionals that it currently supports and Pete's plans for the future of USSL.

The future looks bright for the United Shooting Sports Leagues!
